Cleo is a fully registered psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia and an associate member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).
Cleo is a friendly, down-to-earth, compassionate psychologist with 18 years practical experience, who enjoys inspiring clients to reach their full potential.
Cleo is also a trained Clinical Hypnotherapist, Life Coach, Master Practitioner NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) and Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) practitioner.
Prior to her attending Brisbane Counselling Centre, she worked in private practice for many years, helping clients from all walks of life to resolve issues such as anxiety, panic, depression, relationship challenges (including domestic violence), PTSD, low self-esteem issues, parenting challenges, home/work stressors and addiction.
Cleo has worked as a Registered Nurse, Pathology Sister, Occupational Rehab Counsellor and as a Corporate Training and Development consultant. She has developed and facilitated over 400 programs for nurses, public servants, teachers, community groups, small businesses and multinationals as well as programs for unemployed teenagers. She has conducted addictions and metabolic syndrome-related programs in a Brisbane psychiatric hospital, tutored Brisbane University students, conducted Accelerated Learning programs in Malaysia and has contributed a chapter on Team-building in a management textbook – Switch on your Brain, published by Allen and Unwin.
On the lighter side, Cleo has occupied a variety of roles including jobs as a cook (in which she created and cremated pizzas), got lost in the bush when teaching navigation to mining personnel and she even travelled to outback schools as part of a circus troupe when she studied recreation.
She believes that laughter is the best medicine. She uses clinically proven strategies (for example CBT, ACT, Schema Therapy etc.) in conjunction with NLP, Clinical Hypnotherapy and she draws on the latest research to ensure a successful outcome. Cleo is passionate about neuroscience and the impact of exercise and diet on healthy brain chemistry.
Cleo believes in healthy role modelling and enjoys sea kayaking, swimming, running, painting (acrylics and water colours) as well as “keeping her border collie out of the fridge”!
