Aroha is an independent Registered Psychologist who provides evidence-based, trauma-informed support for adults and adolescents (18+). She holds general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia and is a Full Member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS) and the EMDR Association of Australia (EMDRAA). Aroha works with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, perfectionism, self-esteem concerns, imposter syndrome, grief and loss, and the effects of trauma and complex trauma.
Her therapeutic approach is trauma-informed and attachment-focused, with a strong emphasis on Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). She integrates EMDR with mindfulness and other evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), supporting clients to process distressing experiences, expand emotional capacity, and restore a sense of safety and connection.
Aroha has a particular interest in how early attachment experiences shape the way we relate to ourselves and others. She aims to create a compassionate, grounding, and non-judgmental therapeutic space where new patterns of trust, emotional safety, and relational connection can develop. Her work is guided by curiosity, empathy, and deep respect for each person’s unique story and capacity for change.
Aroha maintains a strong commitment to ongoing professional development and continually updates her skills to ensure her practice remains current, evidence-informed, and aligned with best practice in trauma and EMDR.
